The first pamphlet for OMR Pedal Messengers

After 3 months of correction and collection of details regarding the business
The final logo came out!
The next step here in India is to
Register with (free) classfields and websites that help you listing ( if yo are 20's something guy with the knowledge of internet
Or
if you are more than 40 create some posters and paste it around the city with a photo of yourself with the two hands clasped together!

What i did?
The first design looked like this
I was anxious to start this service as soon as possible

Then began the terribly slow journey of pamphlet designing and copy writing!
Then i had a doubt
Would it be just enough to print a single side pamphlet in English or a backside with details printed in Tamil?
It was a question and after much deliberation the final design came out.

Missing out two sunday's after the final pamphlet design we went to the printers

They plainly said
600 rupees INR for 1000 business cards
3200 rupess INR for 2000 pamphlets
12" by 18" banners 700 rupees INR

The feeling was like OMG! We are just bootstrapping with our money and this guy says 5000 rupees barely!

For a time we gave up the idea but the interest never subsides

We finalized our print
and the total amount came to 2550 rupees for a set of 1000 business cards and 2000 pamphlets

And the time came for distribution!
Never before i had a close shave with this pamphlet distribution

I hurried out from my office @ 5 o'clock armed with my cycle and a few dozen pamphlets!
The initial plan was to reach Besant Nagar Beach and distribute it to the joggers. But the plan got around as ca never find the spot.
So after 30 minutes of search i ended up in TIDEL park bus stand and geared up for the challenge!

The  bus stand was filled with mixture of anxious people working in IT, construction ready to move home either in a bus or share auto.
My eyes were searching for the right guy to accept my first pamphlet!
There he was
A man dressed in formal who seemed to be subtle with his emotions and at the first stretch of hand he accepted it.!
Yeah and he went through it with a little or no surprise!
Then began a little walk distributing the pamphlets facing a ignored acceptance and a complete rejection.

Every business rests on the trust of the customer.
As the pamphlets got distributed i am hoping that it will have at least a 1% conversion
Waiting for the orders

A few lessons were learnt through the process
1.Don't just give the flyer. Watch their eyes and communicate
2. Add more than a text. Try to talk to the customer. Associate with them
3.Remember you have only 20 seconds to pitch your idea
4. Create a deep faith and try to register your name.

P.S.
I had contacted a paper distribution guy at the Adyar signal to inquire about the cost of delivering the pamphlets along with the daily papers

He said, " Only 1250 for 1000 pamphlets and our distribution is restricted to  Adyar and Besant nagar"
